Reading (RC323): The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee: On a night of colour and noise, the Queen’s resolve stands out. (Telegraph)

She has spent 60 years putting duty above all else, and tonight the Queen stoically pressed on with her Jubilee engagements despite the Duke of Edinburgh being taken to hospital just hours earlier. The Prince of Wales summed up the mood of a nation last night as he thanked the Queen for “making us proud to be British”.

The sovereign put duty first, as she has done for the past 60 years, and pressed on with her Jubilee engagements despite the Duke of Edinburgh being taken to hospital a few hours earlier.

Her resolve was not lost on the 500,000 people who gave her a deafening reception at the end of last night’s Diamond Jubilee concert outside Buckingham Palace.

For someone who has seen so much during her reign, she still seemed taken aback by the sheer volume of the welcome as she took to the stage wearing a dazzling gold dress sewn with crystals that glittered in the lights as she waved to the crowd.

It seems to me that most festivals are for children and young people, as they enjoy the excitment of festival most. As we getting older, the excitment of being in a festival, seeing new things or playing new games is gradually worn off, which I think is quite sad. It will be nice if we could maintain curiosities like a child all the time and never get bored.

I have attended a number of outdoor Festivals some of which are related to music Or celebrating cultural days. I like attending these types of activities because I feel more comfortable and relax . It provides social environment that often people need to be there

    • Paul says:

Maybe: “It provides a social environment for people to gather” (maybe – I’m not exactly sure what you want to say). Apart from that good.

  3. Elena Virgo says:

I have never attended any big outdoor celebration because I am afraid of the crowded places with many people who can be “in too high spirit”. I think, I will not feel safe. However, I want to have a chance to see the bright side of the outdoor festivals and be able to hear the noise and the joy of thousands. I think it is important to have such experience because we are living in the society and take a part in the national’s celebrations can help us to know better ourselves and those who live next-door.
